Acupuncture Weight Loss — Safety
Acupuncture for losing weight is a safe practice when a dieter undergoes 1-3 sessions within 3 to 4 weeks of starting a traditional method of weight loss.
Common side effects, rarely reported by dieters, include headache, nausea, and vertigo (losing balance). Severe adverse events, like neurological damage or death, have never occurred within 3 to 4 weeks of treatment.
Unfortunetly, no conclusions can be made beyond 4 weeks because of a lack of safety data. The studies found to examine acupuncture’s safety do not follow subjects past 4 weeks. The ones that did attempt to follow subjects past 4 weeks, show many inconsistancies.
Until more data becomes available on acupuncture’s safety beyond 4 weeks, no final conclusion can be made.
Acupuncture Weight Loss — Does it Work?
After examining several published studies, acupuncture for weight loss, when combined with traditional methods of dieting like caloric restriction and exercise, does increase the amount of weight loss experienced by dieters.

“Accidental” discoveries are made each day. Common substances can sometimes be utilized for other purposes in which they were initially intended. One of these common substances, also known as the widely-used diaper rash ointment, (specifically) — Dr. Sheffield’s Diaper Rash ointment, a mostly natural compound composed of zinc oxide and vitamins A and D, standardly used for diaper rash, minor skin irritations and chafed skin.
In the past, I had used this ointment for specified purposes, and also, for hot-spots on my Chinese Sharpeis. Chinese Sharpeis are prone to skin disorders that cause major irritation to the skin. After trying several veteranarian medications, cortizone sprays and other topical solutions, I wanted to try something that wasn’t harsh on my animals’ hide and that would work proficiently without common side effects of most steroidal antidotes. After seeing what Dr. Sheffield’s Diaper rash ointment could do for a infant’s bottom, I figured it was worth a shot. To my amazement, the skin irritations on my animals began to dissipate with the use of this ointment.
Now, beside being an antidotal ointment for common skin irritations on animals and humans alike, I inadvertantly discovered two new reasons to use Dr. Sheffield’s Diaper Rash Ointment.
No commentsYou’ve probably been eating blueberries since you were a little kid. Maybe you’ve had huckleberries too, which are a little harder to find since they’re hand-picked in the wild. (They’re not easily cultivated.) But are those the only small, dark berries?
The answer is no! There’s an even more coveted berry called the acai (ah-sigh-ee) and it comes only from the rainforest. So it’s no surprise that is not that well-known here in the USA. But… it is starting to gain popularity, so keep your eyes out!
But what’s so great about this little berry?
Well, did you know that 70% of the plants found to fight against cancer cells are found in the rainforest? Yep, there’s all kinds of healthy food in there. Some people refer to the acai as one of the planet’s “best kept health secrets.” (I’ve also heard that native Brazilians call it the “Viagra of the Amazon.)
Put simply, the acai berry is full of potent antioxidants and other substances to promote good health and well-being. (Ever heard of having a glass of red wine with dinner? It’s for the antioxidants.)
Here are just some of the things the acai berry can do:

Losing weight can make a significant and life altering change in how we live our everyday life. After losing weight many people experience better sleep patterns, increased energy levels, improved blood pressure and cholesterol levels. There is renewed vitality and self-confidence after weight loss that improves life in general and health in particular that cannot be overlooked.
However, statistics show that 90% of people who undergo a weight loss program regain the weight within two years. Why? One reason is that most diets are unrealistic and simply cannot be maintained in the long term. They almost always set you up for failure because they do not take into account real life ? stress, eating out, a hectic job, cooking for the whole family or the many other temptations that are all around us every day. We constantly feel like we are fighting a losing battle!
The second major reason that most diets don’t work is that they don’t really address the emotional and spiritual elements. Food that is meant to nourish and strengthen the body becomes something we fear and leaves us feeling deprived.
No commentsDiners have become more health-conscious the last few years, and now want healthy choices whether eating at home or at their favorite restaurants. Luckily, the restaurant industry has been quick to accommodate the demand, so you’ll find you have many options to “eat healthy” these days.
Whether you’re eating at home or dining out, the same rules for watching your weight apply. You need to eat more vegetables, fruit and whole grains. Choose smaller portions of lean meats, fish and poultry. Eat a variety of foods, and fresh, raw foods are better. Cut back on salt, sugar, saturated fats and alcohol. Drink plenty of water, and include exercise every day as part of your daily lifestyle choice.
So whether you’re having lunch with the gang, or enjoying a romantic dinner for two, you can enjoy delicious-tasting foods that are low-in calories and good for you, with just a little forethought and planning.
Here are some easy tips to remember when ordering out that will help you to lose weight even when eating at your favorite restaurants:
1. If you know the menu from the restaurant you’re going to, plan what you’re going to have ahead of time. This will help save you from making a last minute decision that could result in high-calorie choices.

No commentsSummer is about to be in full swing, and it’s that time when everyone wants to look impressive in their “lack” of clothing. While I can’t promise you that you’ll achieve a fitness model body, I can at least give you some simple but important tips in achieving a leaner physique. Listen up! Behavioral changes guarantee your success - not just knowledge alone. You may already have drawn out your road map with your nutritional plan and your workouts, so take that strategy and ACT on it. Stay motivated and consistently remind yourself of your fitness goal. Here are 11 basic tips to get you jumpstarted!
1. CUT THE SIMPLE CARBS. It’s unfortunate that the majority of society is a “carb junkie.” This especially applies to overweight individuals mainly because their bodies struggle with insulin sensitivity. Our body absolutely needs carbohydrates, but one has to learn to appropriately reverse the ratio of simple carbs (high glycemic) to complex carbs (low glycemic). Most importantly reducing total sugar intake. Having a positive ratio of complex to simple carbs will allow the body to regulate blood sugar levels, burn more fat as fuel, and ultimately lose more weight.
No commentsWhen I was a young boy, emerging muscles were the coolest thing. If a vein popped out a little, that was even more awesome. There were no fitness centers or body building gyms to amount to anything back then (Stone Age). If you aspired to brawn, Charles Atlas paraphernalia advertised in comic books was guaranteed to help you turn the cards on the guy who kicked sand in your face on the beach last summer.
Back then, muscles seemed more legitimate if you earned them from work on the farm or from other labor. Muscles from exercise were thought of as sort of "artificial". So I did lots of farm work and construction in the summers. But leaving nothing to chance, I also cheated by building my own weight set with a pipe that I would insert into the holes of cement blocks.
My dad was of the school that I had better be careful or I could get all "muscle bound" if I exercised too much. I guess he must have worried as he saw me in the back yard hoisting my pipe with blocks dangling from each end. But I loved the exercise and reveled in the pumped feeling in my biceps.
No commentsFruit calories are very healthy as compared to calories in fast foods or processed food.
So, don’t avoid fruits. In fact have more of fruit calories if you want to get rid of that excess flab from your body.
Fruits require 20-25 minutes to digest and give us energy and vegetables take 4 hours to become nutrients for energy whereas meat takes upto 72 hours to completely break down and pass out from the body.
Unlike carnivorous animals, your intestines are too long for meat to pass out fast which leads to putrification of meat and accumulation of toxins in the body.
Meat produces Uric acid which your body is incapable of handling..this causes further tissue damage.
Further, fruits have anti oxidant properties and they take care of free radicals and reverse ageing.
Moreover fruits have enzymes essential for various bodily activities like metabolism, so difficult to obtain from meats and processed foods.
Dead meat products are not life supporting in the real sense but fruits are live foods and are a store house of solar energy.
