Osmotic chemicals ? Saline Carthertics
These chemicals are salts and other compounds that activate secretions of water from your colon walls and into your colon, which are absorbed by the fecal matter. This softens the fecal matter and promotes a bowel movement. This laxative should be used only for a short time since they can become habit-forming.
Osmotic laxatives promote bowel movements by bringing large amounts of water into your colon. In this bowel movement, minerals the body needs are also eliminated in the stool.
Here is a list of osmotic chemical laxatives you will find at the drugstore
* Amphohgel
* Epson salt
* Maalox ? contain aluminum and magnesium hydroxide
* Magnesium hydroxide
* Milk of magnesia - Milk of Magnesia, a saline laxative, causes stools to hold fluid, which promotes peristaltic action. Magnesia can neutralize acids you need for digestion and can give you excess of magnesium
* Sorbitol ? is found in fruits and vegetables and can also be created, in the body, through chemical synthesis. It can hold large amount of water in your colon making stools softer.

Do you need some beginner’s strength training ‘how to’ information? I know you must have tons of questions. I will try my best to cover most of the beginner questions with this article. Just remember, above all else have fun and train safe!
How many reps and sets should I do?
How many reps and sets you do is completely dependent upon your goals and strength training method of choice. For example- if your goal is to lose weight and tone up your muscles, then you should consider doing 3 sets of 12 reps. If your goal is to increase muscle size, you will want to continually increase your weight size and consider a pyramid method for reps and sets.
How fast should I lift weights?
When you first learn about strength training, learn about proper speed. I see a lot of people lifting weights way to fast. A good speed is somewhere between 2-4 seconds on the lift and 3-4 seconds on the lowering phase. Your muscles aren’t really doing the work if you move faster than that. Momentum is.
Should I workout everyday?
No commentsI was at the grocery store the other day, doing my weekly shopping and reading food labels like I always do, when and acquaintance came up and said, “Why are you reading labels? You can eat anything you want with all of that exercise you do!” I have to say that this is probably one of the biggest misconceptions that people have.
I talk to many people who are frustrated because they are working out and not losing weight, or not seeing the results they want. The first question I always ask them is, “Have you changed your eating habits?” The answer is usually no. I have to tell you that it takes both exercise and healthy eating habits to lose weight and shape up.
Consider this - to lose one pound, you must create a 3500 calorie deficit. That means you have to burn off 3500 MORE calories than you consume just to lose one pound. How many times have you said to yourself, “I worked out today, I can have that piece of cake, candy bar, etc”? Instead of rewarding yourself with food for working out, use it as motivation to eat better. Say to yourself, “I worked out really hard today. I don’t want to blow it by eating this cake, candy bar, etc.” Remember that everything you eat adds up!
No comments“I’m too busy!”
“I’m always on the run.”
“I never leave my desk during the day.”
Sound familiar? These are the most common excuses I hear for why people don’t eat a healthy, balanced diet. Too many people resort to fast food and junk because they don’t think they have any other options. But with a little planning and preparation time, it is possible to eat well and maintain a busy lifestyle. If you will spend one to two hours one day a week preparing for the week ahead, it really is quite easy.
At the grocery store stock up on healthy snack options such as yogurt, cottage cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables, and nuts. Spend a little time putting these snack foods into individual servings. Grill several chicken breasts or other lean meats to use in salads and sandwiches for the week. Cut up your vegetables so they are ready to go for salads. If all of the prep work is done, it takes no time in the morning to throw together a salad or wrap for lunch. Invest in some disposable food containers, plastic spoons and forks, and disposable cups. If you tend to eat breakfast on the run, or skip breakfast altogether, you can make some oatmeal, put it in a disposable cup, and take it with you.
No commentsElectronic muscle stimulators are the latest craze, the hottest fad… but you want to know “do they really work!” Right?
To answer that question, let’s start with a little background information on what this equipment was originally designed for.
Electric ab stimulators were (and still are) used in medical rehab situations. They are designed to keep muscles from atrophying (wasting away) in situations where a limb must be immobilized. For example, if you broke your leg, the doctor could place an electrode on the muscle and use electricity to make it contract. This would provide a minimum level of stimulation, thus keeping the muscle active.
As far as building muscle, such as the ads on TV claim, this is not backed up by research. The level of electrical stimulation necessary to build up the abdominal muscles to what you see on TV would be extremely high, and thus very painful.
Many companies that sell these belts also claim that the belts help burn fat. In reality, the small muscle contractions produced by these belts burn about as many calories as the effort required to take the belt out of the box and put the batteries in.
No commentsWhat is “it”? Oils-Pure Essential Oils. Frankincense and Myrrh, for Christ’s birth; Christ anointed with oils for healing. The Egyptians used it for healing, so why don’t we? We have been exposed to oils for basic smells, but what about using them for more therapeutic purposes?
Why are we sick in America? Our lives are out of balance; we have 4 parts to our lives, physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional. Finding ways to put these four aspects into balance will allow healing and happiness to manifest. With your body in a state of imbalance you are not in a place where your body can heal. People and drugs can assist you to get to a state where you can heal, but they don’t heal you; you heal you - the healing power is within you. Essential Oils assist the body to rebalance the body and they assist in creating a state where it can heal. Oils assist you to be in a healing place more easily, allowing your body to heal physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
No commentsThese are questions we have to ask ourselves? because after all We already know all the benefits of eating healthy foods. We’ve read it in books, seen it on TV, and been told by our friends.
The problem is we’ve become too accustomed to our lifestyles. It’s easy to order a take away or to ignore the exercise bike collecting dust in the corner, and why walk when driving is so much easier?
It’s a vicious cycle and one we seem to be passing on to the next generation. Why is Ronald McDonald is more widely recognized amongst kids than a few former presidents of the United States?
If we want our kids to grow up and lead a healthy life we’re going to have to set the example first.
Here’s a great reminder of all the wonderful benefits of healthy eating:
Longer life - Research has proven those who at eat less saturated fats, processed foods, etc. live a longer and healthier life, and are less prone to illnesses and disease.
Happiness - There’s no doubt when you eat healthy foods you’ll suffer less from those terrible ups and downs that make us moody. Who wants to be grumpy all the time?
No commentsAre you one of the many people who feel frustrated because you think you eat well and exercise regularly, but you just can’t seem to lose weight? If so, a food journal is a great tool to help you reach your weight loss goals. It will help to determine any patterns in your eating habits, it will force you to be accountable for what you eat, and it will help you to see where you are consuming your “hidden” calories.
The first thing I always tell people when they start to keep a food journal is to write down EVERY bite they put in their mouths. When most people think back over their day and what they had to eat, they go straight to their meals. It’s amazing, though, how all of those calories you consume in between meals add up. You might think that one little piece of chocolate doesn’t count, so you don’t need to write it down, but that one little piece of chocolate every afternoon can add up to quite a few calories over the course of a week. Many mothers of young children tend to finish what their kids leave on their plates, but a chicken nugget here and three bites of macaroni and cheese there really add up! Be sure to write it down right after you eat so you don’t forget.
No commentsHow can I improve my health and lifestyle beyond diet and exercise?
Imagine all your worries about what your health quality of life will be in like retirement melting away!
At the age of 39, I shamefully looked back on years of over-eating and under-exercising. Years of putting my health second to my desires to enjoy the "simple pleasures" of life.
Now with a wonderful wife and two young children I wanted to do all I could so that my future will not be a sad illness filled decline or even an early departure.
I want to be there for my kids as they grow up. With my wife I want to have an active fun filled "retirement". Not to become some burden to them if my health fails.
I had made many attempts to get the exercise bike going, bicycling, running, diets and juicers, but always failed to keep it up for more than a few months, until now.
What made the difference?
Prayer? Cancer scare? No but they too can help. What really made a difference was the discovery that boosting my immune system can make me feel so good, so strong, and so full of energy that I really can enjoy exercise and a healthy diet as a "blissful reward" rather than a "necessary evil" to get healthy.
No commentsWe are a large people. 65% of us are overweight, 30% actually obese. How did we reach this point?
We ate ourselves into a prison of our own fat.
Why?
Well, we certainly didn’t sit down and decide that we wanted to gain weight, did we? We had no pressure on us to fatten ourselves for some eventual slaughter. On the contrary, as our collective girth increased, we paradoxically elevated scrawny to a cultural icon, happily dismissing the corseted matronly figures of the past two centuries.
Where did the disconnect between our reality and our ideals begin?
We can blame the processors who milled out the vitamins and minerals we need. We can blame the preservers who cut back on fiber and freshness in favor of additives and chemicals. We can blame the packagers who added sugar and starch to everything. We can blame the fast food industry for frying everything and we can blame the beverage companies for their addictive colas.
While all of these made their contributions to our current plight, one source of our caloric distress runs through everything: portion size.
