Most people understand the concept of vitamin and mineral supplementation, however not many grasp the fact that these are the raw materials and not the workers for implementing health.
Indeed, the nutritional supplement industry surpassed $150 billion in sales during 2004. However, without the enzymatic workers, the continued prevalence of degenerative diseases and chronic conditions continues despite the supplement pill popping taking place nowadays.
Enzymes are the workers in your body that help digest your food, regulate your organ function, fight viruses and bacteria and repair cellular damage.
In an interview with enzyme expert Dr. Edward Howell in his book Enzyme Nutrition, he describes the effects of depleting your body’s enzyme bank as, “…one of the paramount causes of premature aging and early death. I also believe it’s the underlying cause of almost all degenerative disease.”
Dr. Howell continues, “To begin with, if the body is overburdened [in supplying] enzymes to the saliva, gastric juice, pancreatic juice and intestinal juice, then it must curtail the production of enzymes for other purposes. If this occurs, then how can the body also make enough enzymes to run the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs, muscles and other organs and tissues?”

Have you been hearing about detoxification more often? That’s because we are now recognizing and appreciating that our bodies are not just separate parts, but a connected system which must be in “balance” if we are to feel and be well.
So what is detoxifying?
Well, it is an internal cleansing of toxins, from our bodies. These are toxins that we either produce, ingests or absorb. Our bodies produce toxins as it goes about it’s regular daily functioning and when our system is working properly these toxins will be eliminated efficiently. But very few of us have systems that are so well balanced, anymore. We are not eating properly, we don’t get enough rest or exercise. So, our bodies don’t function as smoothly as they should.
We absorb toxins from the air as we breathe in pollutants from chemicals.
Normally the body can neutralize and eliminate these. But as the levels of these toxins get increasingly higher, our bodies become over-whelmed and can no longer keep up.
This is why we detoxify!
Detoxification is a process and can be a gentle cleansing or a more rigorous therapy, where many foods are completely avoided over a long period of time.
No commentsAxiom Number Two: Hunger Control
Trying to lose weight without understanding how to control your hunger -impossible. Probably the main reason so many diets fail is because they ignore hunger. Hunger is one of the human’s strongest drives, right up there with procreation and survival. Diets that attempt to restrict calories by controlling portion sizes are almost universally failures. All the positive imagery in the world will not stop your hunger, even for a nanosecond. Hunger is just like a river. You can dam it up for a while, but it will eventually spill over and occasionally “burst” the dam itself.
Nutritional density
The first and most important step in controlling your hunger is to feed your body what it is hungry for, not a big gulp at the local convenience mart. All the food in most large commercial grocery stores, fast food restaurants and convenience marts is not what you need to turn off your appetite. The only way you can even begin to shut down your hunger is to feed the body complete foods. Here in America that means organic whole foods.

No commentsSalt does Not Cause High Blood Pressure. Some things you need to know first to fully understand blood pressure, as well as helping you to understand about many other things in your body: The difference between average and normal.
Average is a mathematical statistic. Don’t let that big M word scare you. All average means is that you add up all the totals you have and divide by the number of totals you added. This gives you an average of the group of numbers.
Normal is what is right for an individual, or what is common or appropriate for each particular person.
What the medical profession does is make the average normal. They measure a bunch of people’s blood pressure, divide the added totals by the number of people they measured, and come up with an average blood pressure. And then they say this is the normal blood pressure for everyone.
No commentsIn March 2003 our then 13 year old daughter, Helen, was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, at which point she was on the verge of being emaciated. Her BMI was approximately 15.
My initial reluctance to accept this diagnosis was dispelled towards the end of the month when Helen became severely dehydrated and suffered a complete nervous breakdown as the anorexia finally took total control of both her mind and body. It may sound melodramatic, but it was as if she had become possessed. Helen’s reaction, when encouraged to drink a glass water in order to ease the stomach cramps caused by the dehydration, was uncharacteristically aggressive and resulted in an hysterical screaming fit which unnerved both myself and Fiona, my ex-wife. Helen flew into a rage and began to scream: "IT’S WEIGHT, IT’S WEIGHT, IT’S WEIGHT!"
At this point, we realised that we had no control over Helen whatsoever. However, by June 2003, only three months later, Fiona and myself had broken the illness and Helen was able to return to school. By September 2003 Helen had attained her perfect weight and the illness had been completely eradicated from her psyche. By January 2004, Helen was signed off by the adolescent mental health unit, her psychiatrist commenting that it was "one of the quickest recoveries" from mental illness that he had ever seen.
No commentsUncovered After 80 Years of Dormancy, Pilates is Far From Dead.
In a way, he’s a lot like Edgar Allen Poe. The famous writer had been deceased for many years before he miraculously cracked super-stardom, his once-buried work revamped from the ashes to be relished by millions and millions of literature fans.
Well, Joseph Pilates is not Edgar Allen Poe. The German immigrant is hardly a household name in 1999, but just like Poe, some thirty-two years after his death, his lost treasures are now being discovered as genius works of art.
You’ve seen the countless infomercials in the middle of the night, boasting this piece of exercise equipment and that toning apparatus. They usually get a famous retired athlete like Joe Montana to endorse it and swear by it. You’ll actually watch for a minute and a half before realizing that you just wasted 90 seconds of your life.
But the word is out that the Pilates Method is different. This one actually works.
That’s why, if you look around, Pilates studios are cropping everywhere throughout the United States. Many health clubs are offering Pilates classes on a regular basis and more and more Pilates machines are filling household closets where those dusty sets of golf clubs used to rest.
No commentsAging occurs due to the growth of the tissues and other elements in side the body. Even the cells grow and die as time passes “there was nothing to stop these changes” but this sentences is no more existing. Man has found ways to slow stop and even reverse the growth of human bodies. Anti aging is a process in which a person can stay young for a long time.
Anti aging techniques slows down the aging process so that the person stays young and fit. The main part of the anti aging techniques is the nutrition that is taken by a person in his lifetime. Healthy food habits are the key to anti aging techniques.
Creams have become the widely used products among the products used for anti aging. There are sub types in the creams they are natural creams, artificial creams and the last important one is herbal creams. Herbal creams are basically preferred by some people because every one believes that herbal will not give any side effects. But be careful that before using the treatment consult with your doctor or with your beautician so that it doesn’t give negative results. There are separate treatments for every individual. As both men and women are equally interested in this anti aging treatment we should be able to carefully differentiate the treatments.
No commentsAn Interview with Success Story, Caitlin Johnson
If you don’t know who Caitlin is, you will soon. She appears in the June, 2005 Issue of Ironman Magazine. But Caitlin isn’t your everyday super fitness competitor/model. Let’s face it, many women look at women in these magazines and wish they were blessed with their genetics. They think they don’t have your problems, or your metabolism and they don’t have to work nearly as hard to look as good as they do. They’re just lucky.
Well, no more excuses. Cat worked extremely hard to get where she is. And I had the pleasure of interviewing this amazing young woman. After you read this inspiring interview, you can go to my site and see some wonderful before and after pictures.
1. Cat, you’ve managed to lose 70 pounds of fat. This is phenomenal and I congratulate you once again. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. Many people are unhappy with their weight, their job, etc. What was it that finally motivated you to get in the gym and start eating properly? Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you are like most people, you must’ve been unhappy with how you looked for some time before making the committment to do something about it..
No commentsSome of the things you think you know that just ain’t so (these myths are not true):
Eating Cholesterol does not increase your cholesterol levels
Salt does NOT cause High Blood Pressure
Eating Fat does NOT make you fat
All refined carbohydrates are hazardous to you
Artificial sweeteners of all kinds are not good for you
All vitamins and supplements are NOT created equal
Eating Cholesterol does not increase your cholesterol levels
The Medical professions current way of thinking about cholesterol. They look and see lots of cholesterol in the blood. So they scratch their head and say, well, don’t eat so much cholesterol then. If you eat less cholesterol, you will not have as much in your blood. Now, on the surface, it sounds good. But there are two major flaws with their theory. The first one. It doesn’t work. I dare you to try and find someone whose cholesterol significantly went down by eating less cholesterol. You will be hard pressed to find someone. Even with medication.
That brings in my favorite definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. This is what the medical profession has been doing for Years. Telling people to do the same thing, with out really getting results, expecting to get different results. It just doesn’t work that way.
